What Parents Need to Know About Paying Less for College
Harrisburg Academy encourages parents of 9th, 10th and 11th graders to attend a critical and timely webinar, What Parents Need to Know Now about Paying Less for College
If you are within 4-years of sending your child to college, now is the time to think strategically about how you’ll cover – and reduce - your share of the costs.
This is especially important if you aren't necessarily expecting considerable financial aid, but may be challenged by the exorbitant cost of undergraduate education.
Ask yourself these questions:
Do I know how much I can comfortably afford?
How can I lower my college costs?
Have we saved enough for all our children?
Will my child’s college choices be limited by my ability to pay?
It’s okay if you don’t have all the answers just yet, but delaying the conversation could make college considerably more expensive.
Learn steps every family should take now to make college more affordable.
September 25, 2024, 7:30-8:30pm Back-To-School Momentum: Prepping Children of All Ages for the Challenges (& Successes) of a New School Year We all benefit from knowing effective, active, and creative strategies to confront worry and anxiety. Families need clear direction on HOW to respond when anxiety or worry flares up. Parents are an instrumental part of the process and benefit greatly by collaborating directly with the school. Based on current research and years of clinical experience, learn a strategic approach based on skill-building, with emphasis on prevention that benefits students, their families, and educators. There is great opportunity to learn what works and what doesn’t. What are the mistakes we continue to make? How can we take advantage of a new school year’s positivity? What are the myths we need to bust, the paradigms we need to shift, and the skills we must build? This webinar is for parents and caregivers of grades 1–12. Presenter: Lynn Lyons Lynn Lyons, LICSW is an internationally recognized psychotherapist, author, and speaker with a special interest in interrupting the generational patterns of anxiety in families. Lyons is the co-author with Reid Wilson of Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents and the companion book for kids Playing with Anxiety: Casey’s Guide for Teens and Kids. Harrisburg Academy faculty and staff have begun reading "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt. This timely and engaging book is such a great wealth of information, we had to partner with our families and invite you to read it in partnership with us!
On September 30 at 6PM, we will be meeting to discuss the topics covered in the book, so we advise that if you are interested in attending this open discussion, you begin reading "The Anxious Generation" before you attend. We will continue these partnership discussions throughout the fall, so please don't feel rushed to complete the entire book by the September 30 discussion.
The book is available to purchase online, and available in audiobook as well.
