International Students

Harrisburg Academy has a proud tradition of enrolling students from across the globe, many of whom graduate from the Academy to pursue a post-secondary education at a United States college or university.  During the past ten years, more than 70 international students have studied at Harrisburg Academy from countries including Brazil, China, Denmark, England, France, Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, and Taiwan.  As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School with a multitude of opportunities for international students, we see continued strong enrollment of international and globally minded students in our Upper School.

Harrisburg Academy admits qualified international students in grades 9 through 11.  To obtain a Harrisburg Academy diploma, students must spend a minimum of two years at the Academy and complete the required number of credits to graduate.  Qualified non-diploma applicants may apply for admission to the senior class.

To be considered for admission, students must have a successful academic record, superior TOEFL scores, and proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English (we do not offer ESL).

Homestay Program

All international students wishing to join Harrisburg Academy's high school program must be sponsored by a CSIET-certified program.  The local program or agency will arrange for a coordinator (living within 50 miles of the school) to secure an American host family for the student, arrange for health insurance, and provide support for the duration of the enrollment.  Harrisburg Academy does not work directly with overseas agents or consultants and does not permit independent homestays.
